“I love how the light makes my whole bedroom pink. I love the dirty dishes under the bed which I never get around to cleaning out. I love my art on the wall, they contain a lot of teenage depression and broken hearts. I love my bed, it´s huge and it´s where I spend 90% of my time each day after coming home from school.”—Submission from Vilde

“Age 16. Chicago, IL. I was obsessed with disposable cameras, and covered my walls with the developed pictures. One wall was a corkboard, and basically any piece of paper I had that had any remote meaning or memory attached to it, I kept and would tack it on my wall. Ticket stubs, photobooth pictures, souvenirs from my summers in France, and tons and tons of random pictures of my friends and I. I never wore color, and my favorite colors today is still browns and greys, but I loved how colorful and happy my room seemed. I was also an extreme neat freak, and everything on my wall matched and was perfectly aligned. My bed was up in a loft above me, so I had tons of room to just sprawl on the floor, or curl up on my red and white striped candy chair. What made my room awesome was that it reflected me, and had bits and pieces of me all over it. I didn’t have anything in it that i didn’t think involved an important, or even not important, memory of mine, or reflected something about me.”—Sorrytointerrupt

“This is a bit of my room before I moved, so when I was about 15, only two years ago. I lived in the suburbs of New Orleans. I love odds and ends, I love the way colorful clutter looks, the way light shines through glass, scented things, books, candy, letters, folk music, and sleeping on my floor. My bedroom then rocked because I had so little room but so much stuff. The wiring was bad so the overhead light almost never worked, so it was lit almost solely by Christmas lights and lamps, and it gave it a real home-y feel, and lightened down my pepto bismol pink walls. My ceilings were really low too, so everything just felt so cozy. I loved it because even though it seemed like a ‘warm’ room, it was always at least 10 degrees colder in my room than the rest of the house, so it gave me a great excuse to collect pretty blankets!”—Ieatmybreakfast

“Hi, this is my room which I designed when I was around 16.. I kept adding stuff and decorations everywhere till I got sick of it recently and decided to change EVERYTHING. Almost 19 now, from Israel, which means I’m joining the army so I wanted to do something a bit creative before I’m off. I loved this room, but it feels like it’s time for a change. I’ll post my new one once it’s finished.:)”—Sceneandunseen

oh my god
this is perfect
why can’t my room look like this
